Disappointing. One war story after another. way too ...

Disappointing. One war story after another. way too expensive for what you get. much more instructive is Ervin Youngers Cross examination series...40 year veteran trial attorney speaking. I'm inspired to write my own, much shorter & to the point book on the subject.

This should be studied and discussed in any law course, especially the first 3 chapters. There is a technique for cross examination that a very few legal people demonstrate.

Meandering

This book is like a garden with a few flowers hidden among the weeds. The writing is old-fashioned and long-winded: "One should be careful to be well groomed, without flouting the latest hair styles which are fashionable in the hip sections of Greenwich Village. Simple but well-creased business attire is appropriate for both men and women unless you are in Caribou, Maine, or Kalispel, Montana, and you observe everyone coming to court in a pick-up truck with a rife in a rack behind the driver's head. Under such circumstances, more casual dress will suffice." And so it goes. I could tolerate the writing, if the substance were more thoughtful, but most of the book consists of long transcripts of cross-examinations. For example, there's a medical malpractice cross by Bailey that goes on for about 50 pages, with about 35 mostly short footnotes as commentary. Not my cup of tea. I did feel sorry for the doctor, as Bailey was relentless.
