Good help for classroom discipline

I have read most of this book since I received it about two weeks ago. I thought the principles presented were very good and it would be worth while to implement them--IF I were a classroom teacher. I have a tape of a lecture by Jane Nelsen and thought the book would help me with a problem I have been having in keeping order in a meeting with children from my church. One important principle was the use of "class meetings" which is impractical for my purposes. I am continuing to use her other ideas, as tapping into their innate wisdom and asking them to help solve problems; this is a matter of respect and improves cooperation.

Tool for Teachers

Imagine a classroom where students are learning to solve their own problems and to control and manage their own behavior (so you don't have to). A classroom where an atmosphere of mutual respect and open communication brings everyone together in a way that benefits everyone. A community where encouragement (NOT praise) builds up and brings out the best in every member. Students will grow in social skills and academics. Positive Discipline gives you workable strategies to implement that can bring this picture to reality. I highly recommend it for every teacher, parent and childcare worker.

What I got out of this book was looking at discipline in a positive way and not as punishment. What I don't like is the very negative comments regarding teachers. I think this method is more suited to parenting.
