Christian Daily readings for every day of the year

As true Christians, each of us needs a daily prayer and Scripture reading program. The Prologue from Ochrid in English is a great tool for individual participation in the prayer life of the Church. The Christian Orthodox manner of reading Scripture is both liturgical and patristic. 'Liturgical' means: New and Old Testament readings are used in worship throughout the year, and each day's selection points to the mystery of Christ. 'Patristic' means: the Church Fathers' guidance and interpretation of Scripture contains over two thousand years of spiritual warfare experience. The Church helps us understand Scripture: Acts 8:30, 31.
This is Volume 1 of a 2-volumes set. Description: "New, much cheaper entire edition in two volumes. Hardbound with full-color dust jackets. Volume 1: January to June, Volume 2: July to December. The text of this 1,450 page magnum opus of St. Nikolai has been translated from the original Serbian and edited by clergy and monastics of the Serbian Diocese of Western America. Bishop Ware says of this book, Until now there has existed no book on this scale in the English language, following the Orthodox Calendar, with concise yet detalied lives of the saints for every day of the year. There are about three pages for every day. Far more than a catalog of facts and dates, the saintly bishop's personal vision and inner faith are evident on each page. Like the Lord, he delights in vivid parables. Gifted as a preacher, theologian and pastor, the bishop suffered as a confessor for the faith at Dachau. 1448 pages."

Every Orthodox home should have this book

As a newly baptized member of Orthodoxy, I was told by a priest that this was a great way to read about the saints and learn by their example what Orthodoxy is all about. After reading just a few pages I can honestly state this book is very helpful and should be required reading for any catechumen.
